Leonnatus Anteas Conquers Coronation Futurity
Leonnatus Anteas chalked up another impressive victory at Woodbine Racetrack on Sunday (Nov. 5) by taking the $250,000 Coronation Futurity, the country’s top race for Canadian-bred two-year-olds and a key event on the road to the 2007 Queen’s Plate.
The Ontario-bred colt, owned by Knob Hill Stable and The Estate of Steve Stavro, took command mid-stretch of the race, and then held on gamely for a 1˝ length score over Eugene Melnyk’s Marchfield, with Jiggs Coz a half-length back in third. The final time was 1:55.97 over the Polytrack.
“He’s a very intelligent horse,” said trainer Kevin Attard of the son of Stormy Atlantic, who was bred by Ted Burnett’s Josham Farms in Ontario. “Right from the get-go, he was smart about everything and handled things well. For a colt, his head is on really straight. He’s mature for his age.”
On December 2nd, Knob Hill Stable will be offering 11 broodmares, 10 foals of 2006, and three racing or broodmare prospects for sale at the CTHS Winter Mixed Sale being held at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion. The consignment will be handled by Hill ‘N’ Dales Sales Agency. A complete catalogue listing is available in the Winter Sale section of this website.
